For the second year in a row, GLAAD has nominated The Reckoning, CNP’s digital publication covering Atlanta’s Black LGBTQ+ community in the Outstanding Blog category. GLAAD announced the 2022 nominees across 30 categories on Wednesday. The Reckoning is one of five nominees in the Outstanding Blog category that met GLAAD’s criteria for bold and original content that accurately represents the LGBTQ community.

“Media can create positive change and this year’s nominees represent powerful projects, stories, and creators that positively shifted culture and enlightened audiences with new and impactful LGBTQ stories,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “There are more nominees this year than ever before, highlighting a growing landscape of LGBTQ visibility, and serving as a reminder to the critical role that film, television, music, journalism, and other forms of media can play in growing LGBTQ acceptance in the face of ongoing attacks against our community.”

According to a tip sheet released by GLAAD in conjunction with the announcement of this year’s nominees, a significant number of nominees include impactful stories about LGBTQ people of color, with The Reckoning among the nominees highlighted for diversity in coverage.

"CNP continues to be grateful for the members of our community who trust us with their stories that we get to tell through our publication The Reckoning,” said CNP Executive Director Charles Stephens. “We are absolutely thrilled with this recognition of our work. It is truly an honor to be included among such an incredible group of nominees."

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies, which fund GLAAD's work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance, will be held in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, April 2, 2022, and in New York at the Hilton Midtown on Friday, May 6, 2022.
